Dear Reader,
This time I like to bring a difficult topic today, why because, I am survival of torture and trauma, and I have experienced what human rights abuses is about by previous Salvadoreans’ government regime during the 80s and 90s, and I just cannot continue being silence for the war in Gaza. For this reason, I wrote the following poem.
“The war…I turned on my TV this morning and the news continues broadcasting the war in Gaza, my heart goes out, when the number fatalities of the children, their parents and families once again higher than the previous one, all of those who have loss their lives by the hands of those, who believed, that they’ve the right to take innocent lives, their land, and humanity away from them. My mind and heart are full of sorrow and anger and questions of why, this has happened, and one question lingers in my mind, did we learned anything from previous wars, where those who believed were superior, and consequently committed mass ethic cleansed to those considered Inhumans to them? I don’t find answers to my questions, no solace, no hope. This time, it is time to raise our voices to condemn violence and human rights abusers, and recognise that our world is like a garden, where flores’ colours and shapes are what make it rich and beautiful, similarly, humans, we are diverse, and we come in different colours and languages, and this diversity must be celebrated, and value as our common humanity. Fear to the other is no longer an excused for war- Unity in Diversity must be embraced and celebrated in our world today”
